Quickly and easily find the break in your robot mower perimeter wire or your invisible dog pet fence with our low cost buried wire break finding tool! Buried wire break finding tools are not widely available and can cost as much as $1500!

The tools that look exactly like ours sold elsewhere under a different name are actually counterfeit. The KPS-CC840 is a re-brand of the original tool that was made by a US Manufacturer and is now discontinued. Since the original version is now discontinued, every unit you find that uses the original name and/or part number are fakes!

The only way to avoid the fakes is to purchase the KPS-CC840. KPS-CC840 was launched in 2022. It is the same great product as before but with a new name and a longer 3-year warranty. Here are its main attributes:

  • Find breaks in buried robot mower perimeter wire up and invisible dog fence wire up to 0.5m/1.6ft deep.
  • Transmitter
  • Receiver
  • Receiver LCD display indicates signal strength
  • Audible sound when receiver picks up transmitter signal.
  • Storage/Carrying case
  • Test leads
  • Alligator clips, red/black
  • Probes, red/black
  • Metal ground stake
  • Calibration certificate
  • 3 Year Warranty
  • US Manufacturer Support!

The procedure for using the KPS-CC840 is as follows:

Disconnect both ends of the the perimeter wire or invisible dog fence wire from its own transmitter.  Choose one end to connect ground. Ground is literally "the ground". Use the included ground stake, or run a wire from a household earth ground socket (must be properly grounded). Attach the black alligator clip of the KPS-CC840 transmitter to to the ground stake. Attach the red alligator clip of the KPS-CC840 to one of the free ends of the perimeter wire/dog fence wire. Leave the other end hanging (disconnected). Turn on the transmitter. Turn on the receiver, turn the volume up. Walk along with wire starting in the direction of the red lead, pointing the receiver near the ground. You are going in the right direction when you hear the signal and observe the graph on the display. Once the break is reached, the graph intensity goes down dramatically or disappears and the sound changes!

Unfortunately, KPS-CC840 will not work for partial breaks that exhibit less than 100K Ohms. The easiest way to find a partial break is to use an extra spool of wire to gradually make the loop smaller and smaller. When small enough, visually inspect every inch of the wire. Clean the wire with water. Feel it and look at it with a magnifying glass (if necessary) until you find the break in the insulation. Use our premium outdoor wire connectors to reconnect your loop after cutting and adding the length of wire. A partial break manifests itself by gradually corroding the wire such that the resistance increases into the KOhm range. They can be detected with a multimeter (isolation test), or for a robotic lawn mower if you notice the robot losing the signal after rain only, it is a clue.

If the wire is longer than around 3300ft/1000mt, the KPS-CC840 may lose signal strength to the point where the graph does not display or the audible sound cannot be heard. In this case, it will be necessary to cut the wire, insert a length of additional wire to shorten the loop and use our premium outdoor wire connectors to reconnect the original loop.

Other online stores are loaded with counterfeit products that look exactly like ours. How do we know? While seeking a legitimate manufacturer, we ordered one of them. Here's how we could tell it was counterfeit:

  • Generic packaging
  • No company address
  • Manual had lots of spelling errors
  • No calibration certificate
  • No warranty
  • Multiple listings with fake manufacturer names

The KPS-CC840 is an essential tool for both above ground and buried wire. You can also use it in your house to trace wires in walls. Avoid a shaggy lawn or a lost dog and purchase KPS-CC840 today!
